Clinics are for those that are new to umpiring as well as returning umpires. Instructed by D62 certified umpires. Ages 10 and up.

Be Punctual: On the day of the training, make sure to arrive a bit early to ensure you're ready for the session to start promptly. bring something to take notes as well.

Engage and Learn: Ages 10 and older take advantage of the opportunity to learn from experienced D62 umpires during the training session. Ask questions, observe demonstrations, and actively engage in the learning process.

1. 1/20, 2:30-5pm: Minor Seaview Minor A field - Introduction to Field Mechanics (MANDATORY) CANCELED 

   • We'll cover the expectations for our junior umpires, discuss payment procedures, and review the basics of calling balls, strikes, and making calls around the bases.
2. 2/4, 12pm Zoom 
   • to go over field mechanics basics 

3. 2/7, 6:30-8:30pm: Old World Hall – D62 Managers, Coaches, Umpires –  (MANDATORY)

   • This meeting is essential for understanding the expectations set by District 62, and it's mandatory for all umpires. A strong showing of umpires from Seaview is crucial.

4. 2/21, 6:30-8:30pm: D62 Rules Training 1 of 3 (MANDATORY)

   • We'll dive into the rule book and explore in-game scenarios. This training is mandatory for all junior umpires.

5. 2/22, 5:30-6:30pm: ZOOM Meeting - Review of Local Rules to Seaview (MANDATORY)

   • A comprehensive review of our local rules just in time for the opening day. All junior umpires are required to attend.
6. 2/25, 12 pm – 4 pm, Fast Start #1 Huntington Valley LL

7. 3/3, 12-4 pm: Fast Start #2 Costa Mesa Little League (AMerican Campus CMHS)
   • Field Training
     

8. 3/6, 6:30-8:30pm: D62 Rules Training 2 of 3 (MANDATORY)

   • Another important session focusing on rules training. Attendance is mandatory for all junior umpires.

9. 3/10, 12-4pm: Fast Start #3 Junior Umpire Clinic Ocean View Little League – Covering All On-Field Mechanics (MANDATORY)

   • This clinic will cover essential on-field mechanics and is mandatory for all junior umpires.

10. 4/3, 6:30-8:30pm: D62 Rules Training 3 of 3 (MANDATORY)

    • The final rules training session before the season kicks off. Attendance is mandatory for all junior umpires.
11. 5/19, 9:00-2:00pm D62 Post season Fountain Valley LL

Attending these training sessions is critical to ensuring that our junior umpires are well-prepared and knowledgeable. The more training and knowledge they have, the better they will perform on the field, leading to more scheduled games.

Important Notes:

• Attendance will be tracked via QR code at the sign-in desk for both Fast Start Field Training and Rules Meetings at Old World Hall. Please sign in so that District 62 and our team can monitor attendance.
• Wear athletic apparel and turf shoes or sneakers to the field training. No flip-flops, please.
• bring a notepad and pen to rules meetings.
• If there are any changes or rescheduling due to field conditions, I will notify everyone via email.
• You only need to attend one of the Fast Start field trainings or Junior umpire clinics. You can attend them all if you like.
