Membership Records Reach All Time High
The new school year kicks off a new season for afterschool programming at the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield. There are many familiar faces at the Club, but this year the staff continues to see new faces each day of members joining the Club for the first time. After a record high summer camp season, the Club’s memberships are also tracking at a record high.
Mike Flynn, Director of Operations explains, “Our growth in membership is a direct reflection on a successful summer camp, as well as our staff’s on-going ability to connect with new kids and families. We are very excited and enthusiastic, and believe the Club is reaching new heights.” The Club offers members exciting programs that engage them in completing their homework and exploring additional educational and enrichment opportunities. Sportsmanship, good character, creativity and leadership skills are developed in all areas of the Club.
The Club offers a full court gymnasium, games room, art room, computer lab, teen room, middle school lounge and learning center.
“The Boys & Girls Club is a fun place for kids to grow and learn, in an environment that allows them to reach their full potential,” says Danny Liddi, 17; 8 year Club member.
The Club’s leadership and community service programs, Torch Club- a middle school program and Keystone Club- a high school program, hosted open houses last week and continue to welcome new members year-round. Middle school and high school students are encouraged to attend the Club any day of the week.
“Torch Club and Keystone Club are great ways for members to be involved in the Club and active in the Ridgefield community. Both of these clubs allow members to plan and implement their own ideas, under the guidance of our experienced staff. Of course, there is fun along the way, such as, ice breakers, field trips, and leadership conferences sponsored by Boys & Girls Club of America,” said Kristin Goncalves, Program Director.
